LOUISIANA La. -- The hardcourts of New Orleans have apparently earned the respect of University of Louisiana men's basketball coach Jessie Evans.
Evans said he likes the toughness and basketball savy of New Orleans-area players that are playing key roles for the Cajuns.
ULL guards Antoine Landry, Laurie Bridges and Dwayne Mitchell are three New Orleans natives who will contribute again tonight when the Cajuns host the University of Mobile at 7:05 p.m.
Landry has taken over as ULL's starting point guard, while Bridges is perhaps the Cajuns' toughest defensive player.
Mitchell played in his first ULL game Monday and made an immediate impact, scoring nine points in 24 minutes.
"I'm going to tell all my assistants to keep looking at New Orleans and find some more of those type of players," Cajuns coach Jessie Evans said. "New Orleans has been good to us lately and we are going to be looking there in the future."
