New Orleans Series (UL leads 76-67): It's the most-played in Cajuns history with 143 meetings being contested. The Cajuns have won 13 of the last 15 meetings held at Maestri Field (swept in 2003, 2005 and 2009). UL holds a 45-20 edge in SBC regular season play and are 35-18 vs. UNO under Tony Robichaux (33-14 in regular season contests).
Quick Reset: Louisiana is coming off a three-game sweep of defending Sun Belt champion Middle Tennessee. Solo home runs by Chad Keefer and Lance Marvel in the second inning opened a quick 2-0 lead in the opener and ace Zach Osborne made it stand. Osborne struck out 11 and limited MT to six hits in a complete game victory. Weather concerns led to a Saturday doubleheader. After a leadoff walk and stolen base in the second inning Tyler Frederick scored the go-ahead run, then in the sixth belted a solo home run for a two-run cushion. Joey Satriano pitched the final 3 1/3 innings to save the 6-4 win in game one. Frederick launched a two-run home run in game two and a trio of UL pitchers held the Blue Raiders to one run to lock up the series sweep.
Inching Closer: UL is only one win shy of assuring a winning record.
30: Two wins would secure the 12th season of 30-plus wins under Tony Robichaux.
The Power Surge: Chad Keefer and Jordan Poirrier - hitting in the three and four spot in the lineup - have combined for 110 base hits of which 23 are doubles and 18 home runs and they have combined to drive in 81 runs.
Mr. Quality: Zach Osborne has turned in 10 quality starts (out of 11 total) this season. Osborne has fanned nine in a game five times and reached double figures three times. He leads all starting pitchers in the Sun Belt with a 2.15 ERA.
