Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department have arrested two suspects in connection with an April shooting. On April 26, at approximately 3:30 am, police responded to the 400 block of Carver Street regarding a shooting. The victim, a 22 year old male of Lafayette, was walking when he was approached by three suspects. The suspects produced a handgun and demanded money. When the victim refused, the suspects attempted to forcefully remove items from the victim’s pants pockets. The victim was able to fight off the suspects and attempt to run away from the scene. Two shots were fired at the suspect, striking the victim once in the leg. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released. The suspects fled the area after the incident.
As the result of an ongoing investigation, on May 3, 2010, a 15 year old male juvenile was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery. On May 5, 2010, Rontrevor Carston was arrested on an arrest warrant for Armed Robbery and Attempted 1st Degree Murder by Lafayette City Marshal officers in the 100 block of Townhome Drive. Detectives are in the process of developing information on the third suspect involved in the robbery. The case remains under investigation.
