LINCOLN, Neb. — Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun women’s club dropped a heartbreaking 61-59 decision to the Nebraska Huskers on Sunday afternoon in Lincoln, Neb.

Bernette Tolston delivered a 3-pointer at the 3:18 mark to propel the Cajuns to a 59-55 lead. The basket would be the last of the game for the Cajuns as Nebraska scored six unanswered points to win.

A free throw, then a layup and then a 3-pointer from Margaret Richards helped the hosts take a 61-59 lead with 52 seconds left.

A steal by Tiffany Washington with seven seconds remaining gave the Cajuns back the ball. Following a timeout, the Cajuns ran a sideline inbounds play for Anna Petrakova. Petrakova made a quick move with the ball and went up for the game tying layup. Alleged contact on the play was not called and time ran out on UL Lafayette.

The Cajuns shot 10 free throws, none in the second half, compared to 15 for the hosts.

Petrakova was strong all game, leading the Cajuns with 23 points, 14 rebounds, four blocks and two steals. Tolston added 11 points as the only other Cajun in double figures.
