Tax Renewal
Saturday voters in Crowley rejected three tax renewals that annually bring in $713,800 to city coffers.
It is bad that the tax renewals were defeated but even worse is a mere 430 voters decided the fate of these tax renewals.
The much-needed renewals take care of public buildings, roads, draianage and cemeteries in the City of Crowley. These tax renewals will have to go back on a costly ballot in the near future since there is no way the City of Crowley can make up for the deficit. The sum of $713,800 cannot be made up from other resources.
Now it is time for city officials to get the word out and stress the importance of these tax renewals.
Let’s hope the next time everyone gets out and votes. The future of our city depends on it.
