Dayton uses hot second half to prevent Cajun upset win
Dayton - Louisiana's men’s basketball squad got stellar play on both ends of the floor in the first half here Tuesday against 25th-ranked Dayton.
The second half was another story.
The host Flyers took advantage of the short-handed Cajuns, holding the visitors to only seven points in the first 12 minutes after halftime, and got two big three-pointers from leading scorer Ramod Marshall in the final 90 seconds in taking a 66-59 win.
The Cajuns (1-2) led by a nine-point 40-31 margin at halftime, but Dayton (7-0) hit six of its first seven shots after intermission in a 14-0 run that provided a 45-40 lead.
Then, after Brad Boyd’s sixth three-pointer of the game tied the contest at 57-all, Marshall’s trey from the corner at the 1:30 mark gave the Flyers the lead for good.
