I know we can't overlook UNO and/or Southern, but it is nice to have a week that on paper we are playing 4 games vs RPI's in the 200's.

That just means there is added pressure as we can't afford to even lose one of these next four in order to maintain the RPI. That is difficult to do in a sport like baseball in which just plain luck often determines the outcome. I expect UNO to play hard. In fact some of their players may view this weekend as an "audition".

We can win 10 out of 11 and then 2 in the conference tourny, that would put us at 41 wins.

The problem with playing these bad teams (and Monroe in a couple weekends) is that even by winning, it probably won't help the RPI that much. Losing just once will be a huge blow.
Guys need to be perfect this week.

This has been one hell of a turn around. After Tulane, a few of us, including myself, were skeptical about beating teams that we percevied as 'better' than us. After this weekend's performance, my concerns have been curved a bit. The pitching was masterful, the defense was superb, and we finally got some big hits in big spots against a formidable conference team. If Zach Osborne is not an All-American, I don't know what is. Tyler Frederick has given this team such a boost. It seems like that kid always turns it up a notch when he's put in the position to produce. His defense has been excellent.

Guys are doing their jobs, and the bullpen is starting to take shape. Marze looked great this weekend, as did Joey Satriano. I liked Cook on the back end this weekend, because the Raiders couldn't hit a junk pitch to save their lives. We completely shut down one of the best players in this conference, Brice Brentz.

I've been critical at times this season, and at the time, my comments were warranted. Using the same token, this team deserves a huge stamp of approval now that they are playing a great brand of baseball. I can't remember seeing a team completely transform itself quite like this. I'm very proud of these guys, and look forward to the stretch run.

Going undefeated the rest of the way is not likely, but I'm confident that the leaders (Jut and Zach) will keep the guys focused, and we'll compete every night. WKU should be a lot of fun!

Excellent post. I have been very critical also, and the turn around this year has been fun to watch. Let's hope they can keep it up.

Good post. I've been so impressed with Satriano. He's the shutdown arm first out that you need in those tight spots. Marze matured a bit this weekend. He made his own bed with those walks, but he really cleaned up.

Hopefully Griffin keeps getting innings because if he can come around, that's another nasty arm. Justin is still available for bullpen work according to Tony last week.

Satriano is supposed to be a starter for us next season. I'm pretty confident he'll do well in that role.

This team has done an exceptional job turning it around this year. Very reminiscent of 2006 when we went from 12-11 to 39-20 I think.

Buddy, have you been around the squad a lot this season? If so, are there any comparable traits to the '06 team? Also, in your opinion, what was the turning point, in both '06 and this year?
