sweeps the series today against North Texas. UL wins 9-0 on mercy rule in 5 innings. It looks like UL as positioned self to receive an at-large bid. A few weeks ago I was worried we would not win conference after the series loss to FIU and they were just 1 game behind us with the tie breaker. UL has pulled away some from FIU so they should now win the regular season title. I believe winning 2/3 against ULM and winning a couple games in the SBC should get us in. With the history of the NCAA usually undervaluing UL we need to sweep ULM and at least make the SBC finals to guarantee an at-large.

A sweep against a top 50 opponent should help move us up a few spots in the top 30. We need to sweep ULM next week as a loss would hurt and more than likely drop us out of the top 30 and may put us in the NCAA's hand for an at-large.

Right now I say we get sent to Baton Rouge at LSU regional who is currently #9 team in the country according to RPI. Last time we were sent to Baton Rouge LSU was the #9 team and we beat their a**. I would think we will be a low #2 seed or a very high #3 seed if the season ended today.

I wouldn't worry too much. Most, if not all that you want to occur, will, simply because this team is playing well enough and they are better than the teams they are about to play. But their rpi is such that their at large selection is virtually assured. They have a top 30 ranking, a 7-9 record against the top 50 (North Texas will fall out of the top 50, otherwise it would be 10-9) and they are (or will be) the regular season champion of a top 7 conference. There's not a lot of teams that are going to have anything close to this type of resume, at least I don't see there being 34 teams with better resumes than the Cajuns.

Tournament champion does get the automatic bid. Regular season champ does not.

Yes, that is so, and the Cajuns will be favored to get that automatic bid going in to the conference tournament as the #1 seed, but my response was in reference to an "at-large guarantee." We (the fans, not the players) should feel fairly comfortable at our current status in the at-large pool.

There's no university closer than LSU, and that's where we're going. Alcorn State will join us and the fourth will be probably flying in.
