SHREVEPORT — Tiffany Washington wasted little time in making a big impact on Louisiana's Lady Cajuns basketball squad.
The former Franklin High standout, playing in her first game for the Lady Cajuns, recorded 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds here Monday night in leading her team to a 74-60 win over Centenary College.
The Cajuns (2-2) also got 18 points from Sharee Glenn and took control early in the second half in evening up their record in their fourth straight road game. Glenn had 16 of her game-high scoring total in the second half and finished the night 11-of-13 from the free throw line.
Washington, who had to sit out until the close of the fall semester after transferring to the UL Lafayette program last spring, scored her first points six minutes into the first half with a short jumper that gave the Cajuns a 7-6 lead. That basket and Kayla Edwards’ preceding three-pointer spurred a 19-2 run that gave the visitors a 21-8 lead five minutes before halftime, with Washington getting eight points during that run.
