The UL Ragin' Cajun softball team begins a critical six-game stretch today with a 2 p.m. doubleheader against North Texas at Alfred and Helen Lamson Park.

The Cajuns (33-15, 14-4) currently lead FIU (32-16, 13-6) and North Texas (26-14, 12-6) by two games in the race for the Sun Belt Conference regular season title. Sunday's game is set for 11 a.m. at Lamson.

But coach Michael Lotief said that's not the reason today's doubleheader and this weekend's series against the Mean Green is a big one.
