The City of New Iberia is the proud winner in the Cleanest City Contest for their district. Now the city moves on to the State level. Judges will be in town on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 5th. The judges are from the Louisiana Garden Club Federation and they will tour the same areas as the district judges. They will start at Rue de Leon, moving west onto Loreauville Road, south onto Lewis Street, taking a loop around City Park, going west onto Main Street, through the historic district, by the Parish Courthouse and back on St. Peter, ending at City Hall.
Keep New Iberia Beautiful is hosting one more litter walk on Saturday, May 1st to cover the Lewis Street, Parkview and City Park area. Interested volunteers are asked to meet at Azalea Estates on Andre Street at 10 am. All supplies will be provided including gloves, trash bags, grabbers, safety vests, hand sanitizers and water.
We urge all residents and businesses to spruce up their yards, homes and streets before the visit. To win at the State level will be a great source of pride for the community. We look forward to the continued hard work of everyone.
