LAFAYETTE – The University of Louisiana at Lafayette will remember its faculty, staff and students who died in the past nine months during a memorial tribute Wednesday. A Night of Remembrance will start at 7 p.m. at the UL Lafayette Alumni Center.


A candlelight vigil is expected to begin at 7:30 p.m. or at sundown.


Students being remembered include Allen Aucoin Jr., Luis Garcia, Andrew Garner, Barbara Fry, William Mizelle, James Prevost, Edward Rodrigue, Rusty Ruiz and Jomaine Vital. Faculty and staff include Dr. Christian Okoye, Dr. Bradley Pollock and John Batiste.


The UL Lafayette School of Music will provide prelude music and the alma mater. Master of ceremonies will be Rev. Scott Belmore, Baptist Collegiate Ministry director. UL Lafayette President Dr. Joseph Savoie will provide a welcome address with scripture readings to follow.


Other campus representatives include Fr. Chester Arceneaux and Juan Pagan with Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church, Rev. Daniel Hixon with Wesley United Campus Ministry and Rev. Eric Treuil with Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship.


The program will also include a musical tribute.
