Lafayette, LA -Lafayette is the only Louisiana city to be named on RelocateAmerica.com's "Top 100 Places to Live" list for 2010. The list recognizes communities as "a great place to live" based on details about neighborhoods, beauty of the area, school performance, recreational activities and economic growth.
"Lafayette is honored to be included on this list of "Top 100 Places to Live" for 2010. For those of us who already live in Lafayette, this announcement confirms what we experience every day," says City-Parish President Joey Durel. "From our rich heritage on display during Festival International de Louisiane to our technological innovations highlighted during FiberFête, Lafayette excels in so many of the areas that make it a great place for people to live. This recognition underscores Lafayette's ability to attract residents and businesses to our vibrant and welcoming community."
This year, RelocateAmerica.com focused on communities poised for recovery and future growth. The editorial team searched out communities with strong local leadership, employment opportunities, thriving community commitment, improving real estate markets, growing green initiatives, plentiful recreational options and an overall high quality of life.
"Lafayette exemplifies all of the qualities RelocateAmerica.com was looking for in their Top 100 this year. From our progressive, business community to our technological, educational and workforce infrastructures, Lafayette is a community moving full-speed into the 21st century," says LEDA President and CEO Gregg Gothreaux. "Community leaders from all sectors are committed to making Lafayette the best city it can be. This recognition is further proof that Lafayette is a great place to live, work and play."
To be considered for the list, a community is nominated at RelocateAmerica.com. From the thousands of submissions, RelocateAmerica.com's editorial team reviews the nominations and selects the Top 100 Places to Live, as well as the Top 10 for each smaller category, based on interviews with local leaders; feedback from residents; and economic, environmental, education, crime, employment and housing data for the past year.
