Lafayette Fire department responded to a mobile home on Hebert Road at 2:49 Sunday afternoon. They saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure when they arrived.
Firefighters extinguished the flames within ten minutes, but the mobile home sustained heavy fire damage.
Alton Trahan with the Lafayette Fire Department said a neighbor attempted to spray water through a broken window, but eventually backed away due to the excessive heat.
Alexandra Janice, Ricky Alfred and their four children were not home at the time of the fire. They lost all their belongings.
Fire Investigators determined that the fire originated in a rear bedroom. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
