If I hear another person say that our team is horrible or Jessie has destroyed the program I think I’m going to go nuts. Everyone is shouting gloom and doom but I saw a whole bunch of potential from this team.
Here is what I saw.
I saw Chris Cameron shake a couple guys out of their shoes. The baskets fell out but he will make those as the season goes on.
I also saw some magic from Landry, and for being guarded the way he was, Brad Boyd still managed to make some great shots, like the 3 pointer from frickin 26 feet out.
I saw us shoot 15 of 55 (27%). Some of those shots were wild shots, but a lot of them just didn't fall our way. Last year we shot 47%, so this of course will improve.
I saw no inside game, because we were flat out outmatched size-wise. Once we get Southall and Cedric, we will be able to get the ball in there and open up our outside shooters.
I saw a bench with a combined 0 minutes of NCAA playing time play against a decent ACC school. What else can you expect?
I see that we have 3 other TV games, all coming when our players become eligible to play. So this isn't like in past years when we only had 1, maybe 2 games to prove ourselves to the nation.
I see that we have name recognition. People who know basketball know who Louisiana-Lafayette (or Louisiana) is. That’s why we have 4 TV games this year.
If you disagree with everything I've said, you have to agree with me when I say that I see some nice lookin uniforms. This one no one can argue with. Their shirts were tucked in, and as for the shorts, everyone wears them that long now so there's no problem.
Yes the game was horrible, but quite frankly the first game is meaningless. Especially since we are missing half our team. Chill out, quit complaining, and look at the bigger picture. If you can be ecstatic about a 4-8 football team you can certainly see the promise in this team.
