Festival International performers are inspiring local acts to get on stage.
Local performers showed off their talents Friday afternoon at the Louisiana International Music Exchange, known as "LIME."
"We invite local musicians that don't necessarily play at the Festival to have a trade show expo," says coordinator Mary Beth Lowry.
Six years ago the event began once festival-goers seemed inspired by the performers to get their own place in the spotlight.
The acts show local and out-of town festival organizers what Acadiana has to offer.
The performers' goal is to get booked for future festivals.
Christy Leichty from the group "Les Marionettes" says, "we're hoping promoters from around the world or around the country would like to bring our show to their town."
Fiddle player David Greely of the Greely Savoy Duo says he wants to share old-fashioned Cajun music with the whole country.
"Usually people hear Cajun music really loud, in a dance hall with drums and bass; what we do is the quiet music people used to hear at home when dad was the fiddle player," says Greely.
Previous acts have gone on to perform all over, sharing Acadiana's talent with other parts of the counrty and even Canada and France.
