Batiste got as many rebounds as Johnson did on a per minute played basis.
Both averaged 1 rebound every 4.5 minutes.

Gradnigo averaged 1 rebound every 7 minutes played and Bureau averaged 1 rebound every 7.2 minutes played.

Gradnigo and Bureau both play soft. With the size advantage that they had on other 2/3's, they should of been more productive on the boards. IMO, both don't have the desire to be good rebounders.

You all keep making my point. And slappy you really need to relax.. Can't find Big man if you looking for guards. You are missing the point of needing a big man. Baptiste does not stay on the floor long enough to make a difference. And from the looks of it they have recruited guards to fill in for Grandigo, Bureau, Daigle and Andrews if they are not doing what Marlin wants. You see the picture got guards to replace what we have since you all continually say they have not got it done. Now need a big man and we set to go forward.

I already said, I appreciate your insight. My deal is you keep saying the same thing. How do you know that the staff is not trying to recruit a big man. I'm sure they are right now...

Maybe the staff wants to go 4 around 1. Villanova plays that way. That would open the door to play guys like Chris, Travis, Josh Brown, Perez, Randell, Raymone, all together. That would be six guys for a 4 man rotation. Which could be especially potent if Chris and Travis would really commit to rebounding the ball. Which would also leave those guys with plenty of playing time.

Consider this. After this season, we lose Randell, Chris and Travis. Unless we want to take a dip we need some older guys. So in recruiting two jr. guards. The following year you have a Jr. Andrews, a Sr. Josh Brown and another Sr. David Perez. That is what I mean by replacing those guys, not this year but next. That way the program does not have a drop off. We balance the classes a little bit.

However I still believe that of the guys we have coming back, Chris and Travis have the highest ceiling, but they also both have the most to prove. I think one way to do that is a coach is to make sure you have other guys capable of playing that can push those players.

That would leave you with Wallace/Gary/Farrington/Batiste and Mitchell at the 5 spot. Of these guys two of them need to emerge. I'm sure they are trying to find players right now. Again, don't put to much stock in heresy or what has been reported. They still have time to find a big guy, but if they don't think there is one good enough, I would rather go small with guys I know that can play.

Guy's, I agree it is nice to have a 6'9" 240 lbs go-to-guy in the post, but reality is that those are hard to find. The post men we have now are going have to work because if you are over 6'7" & can play (Have Not Signed) you have a lot of options. I would rather take the best players we can and be fast. I think Coach Marlin knows what he is doing and I trust he knows how to win. Chris and Travis are the key and I don't know if they have enough toughness to get us where we need to be. Only time will tell........ If anyone knows where Coach Marlin and staff can find a low post Beast, please advise! I Looking forward to Basketball season 2010-11.

I don't have a problem having even more guards. IMO, you can never have enough productive guard play at this level. I've seen teams win with good guard play and less size rather than the other way around. Good, fundamentally sound big men are sometimes hard to get on this level and at this time of the signing period. I think we all agree that we could certainly use some more bigmen, especially with Batiste leaving after this year, but ballhandlers and shooters are never a bad thing to have in vast amounts on your team. It does mean that some of your 3's will have to play bigger though. Guys like Gradnigo, Bureau and possibly Gary will have to hit the boards hard on both sides of the floor and work hard to keep their man from doing the same. They will also have to learn to make better decisions in the open floor as the transition game will likely be leaned upon more.

I was told today the staff has been very impressed with Wallace's workouts and it looks like he will return. That gives you Batiste, Mitchell,Farrington, Wallace and Gary if he can stay healthy. I'm sure they would like to sign another post player, but the better ones at our level are usually transfers. Most HS post athletes that sign with SBC programs are projects.

We have 4 players coming in so far. Don't forget we still have Reese who has not asked for release yet. All juco/transfer players. The last two being mentioned are high school guards. I do understand that we are all on the Marlin bandwagon but why are you all so hot just becasue I want to see them go get another big man.

I do get an opinion even though so many of you have issues. It is just what I would like to see. May not get it but if we don't please do not come on here one time in the season and talk about us getting beat on the boards and getting out rebounded. That is all I ask. I have my opinion as a coach as to what I would like to see us do.

Again, I'm not sure anybody is debating that we could use another post player. However, it comes across that you are criticizing the staff for not signing a post player rather than guards. You are certainly entitled to your opinion and I hope you continue to give it.

Bigman or not, these 3 players will have to rebound the basketball better than the previous years for us to be successful. If we play small, who's responsibility is it then to rebound? This team has been outrebounded in just about every game over the last 3-4yrs and you can see the results! ?

I believe the staff is still trying to recruit another inside player. Problem is finding one. As CajunT said, with Wallace returning we will have 4 players that can play the 5 spot, that is enough to be successful if the other guys will help with rebounding.
