With an emphasis on fundamentals, you will hopefully see everybody rebounding the ball much better. Rebounding is fundamentals and attitude. The 2's and 3's we have should be able to adequately help out on the boards if they play fundamentally sound basketball and give the effort.

Again everyone is missing the point our 2-3 were rebounding. In fact as well as our 5. What part is getting past you all. We lost Tyren who was our best rebounder. Now as I said early on we were out rebounded last year and it hurt us. Now for simplicity we need a dominate big man period. They recruited enough guards. Get another dominate big man that is what we need. Great our guards can refine rebounding skills but the PRIMARY job of 4-5 are to CONTROL the paint and boards and we did not do that at all last year and it cost us!

Why is everyone so obsessed with having another big man? I believe I seen a team make it to the final 4 this year in Butler who had one good big man. Sure big men or nice but it is not like you have to have a whole stable of big men to win.

Agreed. Brian Hamilton was about the best 4 man we have had in the past ten years. And he was 6'5" and probably weighed 180.

Hence my arguments about guys playing harder. If someone thinks they are playing hard, they should put in a Brian Hamilton tape.

    Brian Hamilton Highlights

Terrible quality. Note at about 40 seconds against WKU he hustles back blocks a shot then finishes the same possession with another block.

It comes down to who is committed to doing the dirty work that helps the team. I would take Brian Hamilton any day over several of our taller players.

Again wake up please. We NEED a dominate big man we don't have one and the one we had graduated. We have guards. Guards and apparently more guards. It would be nice to balance out the team. Come on I hear what you saying but let's talk reality. If there is a big man out there we need one more watch and see. If not then I can see a guard. I just do not think we need 5 new guards. End of discussion.

I agree with you that we need another 4/5 player but the last dominant big man we had was Southall. It is hard to find a player of his caliber, size, and game at a mid-major unless you get a transfer. I would love to have a 6ft 8 in kid that was 230lbs and would contribute 8pt/8rbd a game and play with his back to the basket. In the meantime, this team has to make up for the lack of size in the frontcourt by hardwork and determination.

A dominate big man can be a 4-5 person. By all reports the two guys we are currently recruiting or "looking at" are small guards. That is why I have been saying we should be looking for a 4-5 player. .

Why don't you call Coach Marlin and let him know!!! While I agree that it would be nice to have one. I disagree that we need one. And it's tough to find one when you take over a job before the start of the year. Also the guards we currently have, have not gotten only done in 3 years. So I can't blame coach for wanting to get some more, not to mention the fact that we will lose 3 guards after next year.

Like I said, it's a new coach the guys on the team will have to earn their time like the new guys.

If you have a dominant 4/5 in mind let me know. They are the toughest thing to sign on all of basketball.

I think it goes back to what McGuire once said---or something like it----the fleet needs a aircraft carrier to complete its mission---yea I did improvise a little!!!!
