On October 12, 2006 Albert Davis Jr. went missing while working on an oil rig off the Louisiana coastline…that tragic day will never escape his sister’s memory. Paris Davis was on the phone with her brother just before the explosion.
"He told me hold on...I got to go...I got to go, but it didn't sound like anything was taken place,” she said. “It never dawned on me that it was that bad."
Two barges struck an underwater gas line which sparked multiple explosions, leaving four dead and two missing.
His father, Albert Davis Sr., said "What it does is it changes your life right there. You walk and talk different...it makes you a different person."
The oil rig explosion yesterday, brings the Davis’ family back to the day three years ago that forever changed their lives.
Paris said, "I can physically feel my heart hurt, it’s an open would they just opened it up again."
They have advice for families of the missing.
"I want to tell them its going to be okay, but there are so many different feelings that you go through,” she said. “My heart really goes out because you have to be faced with the reality that they may not find them."
Davis Sr. said, "If family and friends stick close to them they'll be able to get through this."
He says not having closure is the hardest thing to cope with, but at the same time, it’s left a flicker of hope.
"There's always that bit of hope that he'll appear,” he said.
