A high profile case is underway in St. Landry Parish. The husband of Krotz Springs Police Chief, Susie Lacassin, is on trial. But, it's what he's accused of and with whom that's drawing attention.
Arthur Douglas Lacassin was arrested in 2007 for charges of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile. There are 5 alleged victims in this case, all relatives of Lacassin.
Pam Kimble is a family member, she says Lacassin sexually abused the women when they were young girls, some incidents taking place decades ago.
"Some of them have grown and tried to live their lives but still it's affected them, it'll affect them the rest of their lives," Kimble said.
Mark Gillespie was brought onto the case as a private investigator for the victims. He says, because Lacassin is married to an official, it took several years for the District Attorney to tackle the case.
"There was a period of time were there was no movement, no activity and of course the family wanted to see justice," Gillespie said, "that is a terrible nightmare for any family to wake up one day and find out that their children have been molested by anyone much less by a family member."
The trial began early Wednesday morning, with all 5 victims testifying. It's expected to continue through Thursday afternoon. According to the DA's office, if convicted, Lacassin faces up to 7 years in prison.
