BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A bill that attempts to nullify the federal health care overhaul in Louisiana has squeaked through the House Insurance Committee on a 5-4 vote.
The proposal by Republican Rep. Kirk Talbot is backed by Gov. Bobby Jindal.
It asserts that Congress cannot require a person to participate in a health care system or require someone to have insurance or face a penalty, as the congressional health legislation mandates.
