Louisiana recorded 14 hits, built an early lead and held off a late rally to defeat Troy, 7-6, in the middle game of a three-game Sun Belt Conference series Saturday afternoon at Riddle-Pace Field.
Andrew Herrmann (4-2) delivered his sixth quality start of the season, allowing three runs on eight hits over six innings to earn the win for Louisiana (22-16, 7-10 SBC). Garrett Carter pitched the final 1.2 innings to record his third save of the season.
The 14 hits marked a season high in a nine-inning game for the Cajuns, matching their output in a 15-inning game against Maryland on Feb. 22 and falling one shy of the overall season high of 15 against Missouri State on Feb. 14.
