I get not wanting to waste pitching, but it's only a "waste" if you use and lose.

Hindsight is 20-20. If UL had burned their best reliever in game 1 while they were up 4 runs, and then if they got lit up in game 2, literally all of you would be yelling, "Why didn't we save him for the rest of the series?! We should've used a worse pitcher up four runs!"
