Based only on what I have seen this year; the only ones who I believe could be possibly an improvement defensively over the current lineup are Miki Watts [probably as an outfielder] and Natalie Johnson at catcher. Norwood should DP, and as much as I really like Ceci, her current injury has limited her mobility. Marceaux should be moved to 1st, Otto to 3rd, Watts, Williams and Hart in the OF. Whoever is in charge of our defensive positioning needs to quit doing it.

Just a thought here.... Yes, we have big issues.... yes, our level of play has not been where we all think it should be... but consider this:

As of today, the SBC has 11 teams with RPI between 1-100 [including all 8 teams on our conference schedule].
So does the ACC.
And the Big XII.
The Big 10 has 12.
The SEC has 15.

Among conferences with similar softball resources, CUSA has 7, the AAC has 6, ASUN has 5 and the MWC has 4.

We have always played a tough non-conference schedule, but there were always several teams in conference that were automatic wins for UL and Texas State. That is no longer the case. Our remaining schedule is Coastal x 3 [75 RPI], McNeese [36], USA x 3 [47] and Marshall x 3 [20]. True, that isn't a murderer's row like the SEC, but it is a pretty damn tough 10 game stretch. Additionally, most years in the past we would go probably 7-3 or 8-2 against that schedule because, as Rory pointed out, we had better pitching AND hitting than most all the conference. This year and last, not so much.
