Thread: Final SB Louisiana 2, James Madison 6

I think everyone would feel better if the case was other programs caught up to where Louisiana was instead of UL dropping down to the average (or worse) SBC team.

The next two games will be the most important of the season. As the Cajuns keep dropping the SBC opener the pressure keeps going up as they are forced to win the next two. Still questionable coaching decisions. If the time had clutch batting they would have 6-10 more wins this season.

I have been saying the team has no vocal leaders and over and over a board member said he could provide examples. We are still waiting. Nobody can just wake up and be a leader tomorrow. Alyson has been repeating this over and over during her pressers. It is almost lso like she is begging or forcing someone to take charge on the field. With leadership you either have it or you dont.

Leadership is the least of the issue in my opinion. In addition, that quality has to be organic. When it’s forced on some to become a “vocal leader” and it’s not organic it can absolutely come across to others the wrong way and not received the way it is intended. That’s why teams that have captains (leaders) do so by a vote of teammates in order for it to be someone trusted by their peers and not forced on them by Coaches. That quality can not be forced into a player.

I also do not believe that is the reason for inconsistent play and/or kids not playing to their potential. Every team takes on its own identity organically. In my experience, some of my most successful teams I’ve coached didn’t have any vocal leaders. There is always that “glue kid/kids” that the team knows they need to have on the field to win but often times that could be the most quiet/humble kid on the roster. I am sure there are some on the UL team that are glued to kids.

  5. Ragin' Cajuns Softball: Louisiana Threatens in Seventh, JMU Holds On

The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball team put the tying run at the plate and the pressure squarely on in the seventh inning, but James Madison slipped out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam to hold on for a 6–2 win on Friday, April 10 in the opening game of a Sun Belt series at Bank of the James Field at Veterans Memorial Park in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

In my opinion that just reinforces that our staff really doesn't have a clue. This program is in deep ---- with the current leadership. This is a direct result leading to the inconsistent play, along with continuing questionable in game decisions by this staff. JMO.

Then you should feel a little better. Problem is that when the conference got better we got worse.

At some point, these players need to get some PRIDE.
