Thread: Dual Ejections

Default Why are people more forgiving....

    Of Deggs vs. Habetz?

I watched our Head Baseball Coach make a total Ass out of himself today and it's virtually crickets on here.

But the Habetz bashing was non stop last week.

    What gives?

wait, wait, wait - total alpha is demanded here daily of our diamond sports coaches and players and when you get it’s you want suspensions - go fricking figure that . . . Where is the satisfaction . . .

Maybe because we are witnessing first hand the slow painful death of our only ELITE program.

People hate on Deggs because he’s not Robe. He doesn’t play the same style of baseball and Robichaux fans despise it. Even though Matt Deggs has the 2nd highest winning percentage of any Cajuns baseball coach. Just hasn’t had a team built to get out of a regional yet.

Habetz continues to coach us out of wins by playing small ball. Multiple losses can be attributed to her philosophy and poor in game management.

Deggs, on the other hand, has a reputation of an offensive minded baseball coach, yet we can’t hit our weight and have lacked the “clutch gene” more times than not.

As much as this board hates on LSU, I think it hates its own program more.

Regarding how they both responded to the plays, I had no problem with Habetz advocating for her player. The Troy player knew what she was doing. It was just not as obvious as Mandino.

Deggs looks like he lost his stuff because the JMU bench was chirping. It was a bad look following a dirty play.

Softball has been UL's most consistent program. 2025, Habetz's first year, was the first time UL had not played in the NCAA Regionals in 26 years.

While she walked in to a terrible situation, it was a rough year. Now this year, unless they win their conf tournament, softball will not qualify for regionals again.

It is a legitimate concern that UL softball is going to become La Tech women's basketball. Combine that with some head-scratching decisions and you get some panic.

Baseball has been hot and cold for years. And while I do not follow baseball as closely, Deggs definitely has his detractors.

While I think the Habetz bashing has been a little unfair, as some of it is clearly personal, fighting to make the conf tournament should never be acceptable for that program.

I am around alot of softball people. Fans, coaches, players, etc and never I have once felt or heard anyone saying anything about Coach Habetz personally. You can disagree with her coaching style, yet still like her. As a matter of fact Alyson and Lacy are two of the most likeable people.
