I just watched the presser. Here's what you need to know. 65% into the season and still no leadership on the team. I tried to tell folks on this board that is very apparent that the team has no vocal in game leaders. Despite what a few said on this board about the team having that vocal leadership they were wrong. Alyson has said it the past three presser she is still searching for that person and even said she will have to try to teach them how to do it. I'm sorry you either have it or you don't. She said the players are really excited that the conference tournament is here. That will give them a chance to win the tournament and make the playoffs. The problem is, they have to make the conference tournament first in order for that to happen. Oh and one more thing, the bunting will continue she said she let them hit away this weekend. That resulted in three loses with 8 total bunt attempts.
From this interview, she is not a vocal leader either. Seems you may be right that she is not head coach material, she is not motivating AT ALL to listen to.
As much as I am hesitant to trust Deggs, go listen to his interview from today. Stark difference, he sounds like he knows what is going on with the team and inside and out and sounds like players would run through a wall for him.
We have to stop with the "one of us" hires and go get coaches who have it.
Ali has the resume that everyone here says we have to go after - we get it - and in one year it’s no longer good - GO FRICKING FIGURE
I've always said never hire from a P4 (P5 then) and always hire a successful head coach from a smaller conference.
The smaller conference coach knows how to operate with no money and has proven it.
Any P4 hire whatsoever has to tie their hands to operate.
I thought though that exceptions could be made for ULumni because they knew what the constraints would be.
I have a friend who's nephew played on the Cajuns baseball 2014 team, there were four players on the team who were quarterbacks on their high school teams. They were all alpha males. You didn't want to mess with them. They would call you out in a second. That's why Deggs got rid of about 15 players going into this season. They didn't have what it took to succeed in his system and he showed them the door.
