Season Review

After 36 games, we are 20-16 compared to 18-18 last season. We are 3-6 in conference and getting swept by ULM dropped our RPI from 40 to 48. The only bright spot this past week was the win over McNeese. We now have 96 extra base hits [53 2b, 7 3b, 36 HR] compared to 78 xbh all of last year. After three weeks of conference play we are sixth in BA, 5th in runs, 4th in doubles, 6th in triples, 5th in HR and 5th in RBI. On the defensive front we are 4th in fielding%, 6th in ERA and 6th in runs allowed.

Week 8 Preview

This week, we have no mid week games and a weekend series with Troy at Lamson. Troy is hitting .340 as a team, which leads the conference, third in SLG% with 102 XBH and is 3rd in runs scored. Their team ERA is 3.11, which is third in conference and their fielding % is .963, 8th in conference.

Troy is coming off a home series loss [1-2] to USM. On paper, Troy is better than us in both hitting and pitching, and though their fielding is worse than ours, the difference is only .003. We will have to play much better than we did last weekend to win this series.

For all you small ball enthusiasts out there, we are #2 nationally in sac bunts.
