Given two of the last 3 hires had the search radius of the fence at Cajun Field, and there is one sport where the long past expiration date coach’s record makes Marlin look great yet remains employed, it’s obvious UL doesn’t have the money to hire outside “the family.”
The failure to adapt aggressively to the marketing media changes with the “we tried” attitude displayed (see UofL license plate trim to graduates) along with the nutless approach to marketing UL (not ULL) incoming freshmen started grinding the athletic fanbase down long before NIL. I’ll bet someone thought the Monroe jerseys looked good and think “Lafayette” jerseys, or worse, “Acadiana” would look great and would be good for tourism. Want the “Louisiana” name yet parochial mindset.
Whoever posted about the SB base aging out. That applies across the board. Long term success insulated them longer.
SB is very similar to Louisiana Tech WBB. Will rapidly become a memory then forgotten abet faded signs in the stadium.
Rant off…
Playing with fire when you work with and hire only "family" It can work out really good or turn really bad and your stuck with said family for a while. In other words they have to do something absolutely terrible to get rid of them.
Almost as if all of the ire for big fish from ragin pagin was aimed in the wrong direction
If we are still talking about Glasco ...
I thought he was the best recruiter I have ever seen.
I also thought he was a knee jerk reaction coach who made poor in game decisions but they were or protected or diminished by the great players he recruited.
This next one I can't ever prove, but I don't think he can ever win with average players.
Glassco's fast moves make any subsequent coach seem like they coach in slow motion.
UL needs coaches that when all is said and done you can look at their in game decisions and say "that made a difference."
