Arizona’s inside game, FG advantage (47% v 38%), +5 turnovers and converted 91% (20-22) from the line while Purdue shot 62% (8-13) tells the story. Arizona was just faster.
FWIW, fouls, 16 Purdue, Arizona 14.

Fouls are a distraction. They don't lead directly to points.
Look at free throws. And not this: during the regular season, FTs are fairly consistent.
In the NCAA, in some games they suddenly become skewed.
Oh, and BTW? Look at UL's trips to the NCAA, & the FT differential.
Free throws cost us several chances to advance.
You say that fouls are a distraction because they don't lead directly to points. That's a ridiculous thing to say since you have to be fouled to shoot a free throw. But even still, using your logic, free throws would also be a distraction because they also don't lead directly to point--only MADE free throws lead directly to points. And I will note that Arizona made 91% of their free throws while Purdue made 62%.
The selection committee can fix the games too, before they even start. Look at the 24-25 cfp...."hey we are going to help the little guys by giving them all bye"- committee
Reality: "they fell for it, really we stole a home game from them and then they all lost, hahahaha"- sankey and espn
