My wife was at the game. She said it was possibly the most disrespectful and uncomfortable thing she has witnessed at a collegiate softball game.

Unfortunately I couldn’t make it. I had to catch sac-a-lait in Toledo Bend over the weekend. LOL

However, I did watch all 3 on my phone 😁

An additional stat: We have 111 successful sac bunts in the last season and a half. Our opponents have sac bunted against us 43 times. Again, can the huge discrepancy be explained away by how teams defend against us? Surely, given the number of walks and hit batsmen our pitching has allowed, our opponents have had a runner on first and/or second with less than two outs at least as often as we have. Surely their coaches are seeing pretty much the same conditions as Habetz.

I repeat, she bunts because she is a small ball coach, not because the opponents don't defend against small ball.

She is a predictable coach. That is the phrase that best explains her. She plays for one 1 at a time. She used the Kelani Ricketts example to justify her use of the bunt. That was a poor example in that both teams were pretty much evenly matched, they both had a No. 1 pitcher that were pretty much unhittable so runs were at a premium in that series. 1 run could win you a game and maybe the series. I can guarantee you that her predictability has been picked up by other coaches and they will start to set up their defense based upon that predictability. When that happens, what is she going to do?

So do us fans in the cheap seats. In fact, probably everyone in the ballpark, including our opponents, know what's coming.

Would attempt to get the runner on 1st to 2nd to take our the possible double play. Then let Otto hit away

If not successful in getting the runner on 1st to 2nd then perfectly fine with bunting Otto.

I can say what I would have done in that scenario. Walked down to get me a coke and a bag of those delicious freshly roasted spicy peanuts cause I’m just there to watch. 🤣

All four coaching regimes at UL have been sooo different in their approach (based on personnel I'm sure) that it slows down my 'coach is always right' endorsement.
