You're proving my point. The original discussion was about battling for NIL with other more prominent schools in the same state. I think it's a total myth that a school is hopeless simply because there is a school with more money in the state. Exhibit A is Texas Tech who has found success despite having a smaller budget than Texas and Texas AM for basically every sport.

They also have a football alum married to a softball alum, which couple are multi billionaires, along with numerous other wealthy fans and alums. Make no mistake, Texas Tech has more money than LSU; though not more than Texas or aTm.

I was originally talking about our league. Every school in our league is a public university in a state with other institutions that have more resources due to being in a P4 than the Sun Belt school. Private schools with wealthy alumni are more likely to compete. That is why Gonzaga is not a fair comparison. A public mid major school with sustained success is a better gauge for us. Feel free to name them. I am sure there are a few.

But the organization that runs college sports shouldn’t be the NCAA, Campbell says. Instead, the federal government should establish a new nonprofit modeled after the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee to oversee college sports called the United States Collegiate Athletics Corporation. That organization can be self-sustaining—and generate additional funding to protect Olympic and women’s sports—by pooling all Division I media rights to be sold together as one package, rather than separating them by conference and championship, as they are now. This could be accomplished through an amendment extending the Sports Broadcasting Act to college sports."

Yes, as they have an operating budget almost $100 million LESS than Texas A&M

You are not automatically at an NIL advantage just because you're a P4 school, and you aren't automatically at a disadvantage if you're in a non-P4 conference. If or when some Sun Belt schools switch over to a P4 conference, their NIL does not automatically skyrocket. There are plenty of P4 teams who have terrible NIL.

What matters is the status of the program and creating something that people want to buy into. For example, VCU has created a great basketball program despite being a nothing school. They may not be championship caliber but they are consistently competing and guys want to play there. Saying "we have no hope because we aren't in a P4 conference" is just a sad excuse. But its easier for schools like UL to blame the conference instead of blaming the program itself.
