We aren’t a great hitting team… don’t hit with a lot of power (.369 slugging percentage)… but our excellent defense and dependable… and at times amazing… pitching keeps winning games for us. Pretty impressive.

A little concerned about two potential injuries last night. Mark Collins was limping pretty badly after he stole 2nd in the 9th inning. He stayed in the game, but I am sure part of the reason he did not score on that play was he was struggling to walk after he hit the bag. The other one is Blaze Rodriguez, we will really need this kid down the stretch, I hope that hand thing is not a big deal. We are already struggling with 3 major injuries in Chase Morgan, Landon Victorian and Jose Torres. We can't really afford any more injuries to this team.
Also, if Ty Roman has righted the ship (after last nights, really good performance against a good team). Then our staff will be fine, 4 quality starters with Pruitt, Hermann, Tollett and now Roman. I really like our 1-4 starters, if Roman moving to the weekday has helped. Imagine if we could see C-Mo back to his old form for a Regional or Super run. That would give you 5 guys you feel comfortable throwing out there as starters. Get the bats going a little bit and we are a really dangerous team, especially with Brasch on the back end.
I do think the hitting will improve and we may need to tweet the order of the lineup a little. I think something that is overlooked this year is our plate discipline, it’s far improved from a year ago. People can say we are being given games but it’s requires discipline to take it when it’s given to you. How many times do you hear “they are trying to give us the game” and we don’t take it.
