I also have no issues with anyone responding to my post as I have been on this site since April of 2005. I think you (and some others) are holding the current group to a standard of the past. Things have changed whether the softball fanbase wants to accept it or not. Today’s STANDARD IS (no longer) THE STANDARD to anyone who is being honest with themselves.

You can either enjoy the games and the players that come through the program, or you can be ____ed off and miserable all the time.

It just is what it is unless someone wants to pony up millions of dollars to compete with the top 40-50 schools in today’s landscape.

The entitlement of some of this fan base is mind boggling. It’s a different world now. Wanting the best for the program is one thing, getting on here and whining that the program isn’t what it once was makes some sound like spoiled brats.

Is this more related to player aquisition, or more about getting a run across the plate?

I ask because I don't think coach Habetz is out of line looking for more consistency because, I feel this is still an attainable standard.

Fans looking for ways (coulda, woulda, shoulda) to achieve that standard, is (to me) normal.

ps It would be interesting to have every fan in the stands mixed up and recorded. I wonder if they would come across as brats.

Only about 20 of them are triggered by their own inability to bunt, especially the ones lurking at or around the dugout during game time

I guess I may have been somewhat vague in my overall sentiment. That is on me sorry. I encourage high standards (everyone involved should) as long as those standards are based on the team and situation we have now and not from 1990s. I have no problem voicing criticism or holding people accountable as long as you also praise and encourage when it is deserved. That is all I have been trying to say is they also deserve praise at times and that does not seem to be what this forum is doing. My saying is don’t make excuses make improvements. I personally feel that is what is happening in the program. It was decimated by a former coach. A new staff comes in and had a very challenging year last year. I see big improvements this year even just in the staff itself. Much like Moore and the Saints we are in rebuilding mode and no one can expect that to happen overnight unless a donor can donate and buy a team like Tx Tech.
I hope you understand my position and I did not want a ____ing match as I have no ill will to anyone here and sending positive vibes to the Cajun Girls to sweep/win the series.

So, the Cajuns should be ok with losing a series to USM, a team that will finish towards the bottom of the conference. The team should also be ok with laughing on the field when they are getting hammered. Those Standards don't get lowered for anyone. It's crazy how Alyson still has standards yet people like you want to lower them. These two standards have nothing to do with money. You played ball and you know your coach wouldn't have let you and others laugh on the field when your getting your ass kicked. A highly competitive athlete is ____ed when losing, not laughing.

We’re becoming more consistent. But that’s not good. I thought we had two solid consistent pitchers. Then one. Now, not so much.
I really thought our defense would be the backbone of this squad; nope. Hitting I knew would be better. That’s been true. But inconsistent. We just can’t figure out some pitchers.
I have no suggestions. Just questions.

The “standard” this year? Consistently inconsistent.

I honestly feel for the long time UL softball fans. Watching it slip away and unable to do anything about it. Much like when UL MBB left Blackham and ESPN grabbed control of MBB media (money). Today, NIL (money) is crushing non power conferences in all sports.

    Those days aren’t coming back.

I agree the UL standard may not be coming back and I will not forgive Maggard for this one. This softball is unacceptable. His job was to maintain consistency and build on our strengths.

He said at the meeting in Crowley last year that he would make sure it was well funded and supported.
