Home games against Arkansas State, Troy, South Alabama and Coastal Carolina, along with an October 10 trip to in-state rival and Sun Belt Conference football newcomer Louisiana Tech highlight the 2026 SBC Football schedule released by the league office on Friday.
For the third consecutive season, all six Louisiana home football games at Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium will be played on Saturday, beginning with the opener against Lamar on September 5. The Ragin' Cajuns will also host American Conference member UAB on Sept. 19 before opening their SBC slate at home two weeks later against A-State on October 3.
Louisiana will also host Troy (October 17) and South Alabama (November 7) before closing out the home schedule against Coastal Carolina on November 21.
Games at USC (Sept. 12) and Charlotte (Sept. 26) highlight the non-conference schedule before Louisiana opens its SBC road slate on October 10 against Louisiana Tech in Ruston for the 88th time overall, and the first conference matchup between the schools since 1995.
Louisiana will also travel to face another rival – Southern Miss – on October 24 in Hattiesburg and will play its lone midweek game on November 12 when it makes a second trip to North Louisiana to face ULM in a Thursday night contest at Malone Stadium.
After wrapping up the home schedule against SBC East Division opponent Coastal Carolina, the Ragin' Cajuns will close out the regular season another SBC East foe – Georgia State – on November 28 in Atlanta.
The Credit Union 1 Sun Belt Football Championship presented by Visit Pensacola will be played on Friday, December 4.
Kickoff times and TV designations for the first three games and national broadcasts will be announced in late May. All other remaining kickoff times will be announced by the Sun Belt and ESPN 12 days prior to each game.

Awesome to have Coastal coming to Lafayette again. We owe them another arse whipping after the 2020 season. I know we beat them in Conway in 2024, but I want some more revenge from when they beat us on that game winning field goal in Lafayette in 2020 and then ducked us when we were rolling in the SBC Conf. championship game.
the series is tied at 2-2 right now.
Saturday, October 19 2024 Away Conway, S.C. W 34-24
Wednesday, October 14 2020 Home Lafayette L 27-30
Thursday, November 7 2019 Away Conway, S.C. W 48-7
Saturday, September 22 2018 Home Lafayette L 28-30
However, History shows the away team has always won.
1928 | The 1928 season also saw USC beat Notre Dame and Knute Rockne for the first time, 27-14. Williams passed for 111 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 93 more as the Trojans clinched their first National title.
1931 | More than 300,000 citizens of Los Angeles welcomed the Trojans home from a thrilling 16-14 victory over Notre Dame in South Bend. “USC is the greatest team I have ever seen,” said Georgia coach Harry Mehre, after his Bulldogs were blanked, 60-0. The usually taciturn Jones agreed, calling his team “the greatest offensive machine I have ever coached.” USC capped the season with a 21-12 victory over Tulane in the Rose Bowl.
1932 | Jones’ squad allowed only 13 points all season while scoring 201. USC defeated Notre Dame 13-0 and smashed Pittsburgh 35-0 in the Rose Bowl. In fact, some still regard this as USC’s best team.
1939 | “We weren’t off form, stale or crippled. We were just outclassed.”
--Tennessee coach Bob Neyland after his undefeated, unscored-upon Vols lost, 14-0, to USC in the 1940 Rose Bowl.
1962 | John McKay led USC to its first national championship in 23 years and inaugurated one of the greatest dynasties in college football history. From 1962 to 1981, the Trojans won five national titles, played in 11 Rose Bowls, collected four Heisman Trophies and contributed dozens of All-Americans to what was already a remarkable football heritage.
1967 | Simpson’s weaving 64-yard touchdown run, perhaps the most famous run in college football history, was the difference in a 21-20 victory over UCLA.
1972 | USC’s not the number one team in the country. The Miami Dolphins are better.”
--Washington State coach Jim Sweeney.
1974 | Fourteen players from the 1974 team were taken in the NFL draft—an all-time record also shared by the 1976 Trojan team.
1978 | “I don’t remember ever playing against a tailback who can run like White.”
--Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant, after witnessing Charles White rush for 199 yards against his Alabama team. Freshman tailback Marcus Allen provided depth. All-Pac-10 tackle Anthony Munoz (considered by many to be the game’s greatest tackle ever). The back-ups on the line included future All-Pros Roy Foster and Keith Van Horne. The defense featured the talented safety duo of Dennis Smith and Ronnie Lott.
2003 (AP) | “If you stay with me, I’ll take you places you’ve never been.”
--Pete Carroll, at a team meeting to open 2003 fall practice.
2004 | The second team ever to hold the AP No. 1 ranking from pre-season through the entire campaign. It was only the 10th time that a team won back-to-back AP crowns. USC outscored opponents by 25.2 points (including a school-record 8 games with a margin of at least 30 points). USC played before 3 home sellouts, 7 regular-season sellouts and 8 season sellouts, all school marks. And Troy set a USC and Pac-10 record for home attendance average, as well as school records for total home attendance, overall attendance average and total overall attendance. Leinart got the Heisman. Reggie Bush would win it the next year in 2005. The New Orleans Saints selected Reggie with the 2nd pick in the 2006 Draft after the Houston Texans selected DE Mario Williams with the first. The Saints would win their first Superbowl ever, 3 seasons later.
