After opening the season at 1-10 with 10 straight losses, I too was happy to go one game under .500 the rest of the way.

Oh well, guess it’s time for portal watch to start. I did enjoy watching this team and the turn around they made.
Now that the season is over, it is appropriate to look forward. Of the 10 guys who played yesterday, 8 are set to return. There are also three injured guys I am confident will return. We also signed three guys in the fall and have one spring commitment. That is 15 players and we only give 13 scholarships. That means at least two people have to move on. I have heard we are looking to bring in one more inside player. If successful in doing so, 3 may have to find a new home. I will not speculate on who those 3 may be but I am sure some of you may do so.

The NCAA rules allow for 15 scholarship players in basketball I believe. Was part of settlement I believe. Seems scholarships in the NIL days are the cheap part.

You are assuming no transfers out. I'm curious to see if Finister or Olvera get offers out.

We may give 15 in future. For now, we only give 13.

Zephyr is correct in that I am assuming that everyone we want to keep will stay. That is of course not a certainty. If someone leaves we want to keep, that may save a spot for someone we were planning on asking to move on. We generally help find spots for people in that situation.

You can't really make assumptions at this point but I'd hope that the guys who were injured for the year end up coming back. It would seem logical considering all of the injuries were significant and I'd find it hard to think that other teams would throw NIL money at these guys coming off long injuries, especially Lewis who probably won't start the next season healthy.

I am highly confident the injured guys will return to the Cajuns next season. Of course I could be wrong but it would be a huge surprise to me if any leave.
