Have you seen goalie masks? Lol. Infinity potential designs, ha
During the height of the Ice-Quitters, I sold for KATC. That outfit of carpetbaggers took more advertising dollars out of this market...it was a giant sucking sound. Lafayette has proven (with the one relatively short term experiment, aka the Ice-Quitters) that "pro" and "simi-pro" are at best a flash in the pan bet. And a bad bet at that. This is the 124th ranked DMA in the country, its not large enough or affluent enough (60K Median HH Income) to support yet another carpetbagging outfit from parts unknown.
I know the university has budget shortfalls, and I’m realistic enough to understand they’re probably not looking to add major sports right now. But if we ever wanted a low‑risk way to test the waters, adding college hockey would be the smartest experiment.
It gives us a chance to see what kind of interest actually exists in this region without the pressure or cost of a professional franchise. If people show up, if the atmosphere builds, if the community connects with it, then we finally have real data instead of assumptions. And if it doesn’t take off, then we learned something without a massive investment. To me, that’s the most viable way to find out whether Lafayette truly has a hockey market.
Also provide another revenue stream for The Cajundome if it doesnt succeed then move on.
They could set it up at Blackham to minimize cost to not interfere with Basketball, and wouldnt have to be taken down everytime. I dont know if its viable or if its built for that, but that is my thoughts.
Called College Hockey South (CHS) and could do womans and mens.
• LSU
• Tulane
• Ole Miss
• Mississippi State
• Alabama
• Auburn
• Arkansas
• Georgia
• Georgia Tech
• Florida
• South Carolina
• Tampa

Mens hockey? That's not AS BAD of an idea..
but here we are selling off actual assets to try and close a $12 million budget gap. That revenue problem is not going away. Actual butts-in-seats attendance for our sports is pretty putrid -- LSU games notwithstanding.
Now we're going to outfit mens and womens hockey teams, plus travel, plus where would they practice? etc..
The future is soccer/futbol.
The best thing Acadiana can do right now is embrace the Krewe.

Nice!!! Yes this is what we need to embrace. I agree with this; should try to get any and everything.
Still think Hockey is another avenue that needs to be explored as well as
Professional Softball (AUSL) they have 6 teams and play 24 games during the Summer.
We need to use the facilities as much as possible, and selling advertising on jerseys and partnerships etc.
