You are stating was is as the norm and that is true.

You have no idea if fans would be drawn to more than one event on the same day.

On top of that the fan who decides to attend one, and then subsequently watch (or listen) to the other undividedly is much more likely to grow interest and perhaps even attend on days when there is no conflict.

If I had to guess, afternoon basketball is cost saving move by the conference. On top of that now the big networks are broadcasting Big 10 games on Saturday nights.

I'm just saying that the diamond sports will conflict with basketball whether its played at noon or 7 pm on a weekend and vice versa. I personally like the earlier game times but I have different time requirements as stated earlier than probably some others here so I understand that those game times might conflict with kids activities etc.

I think the main reason for Saturday afternoon games is the travel situation of the visiting team. They can get home earlier with an afternoon game. I could be wrong but I doubt we will have noon games next season. 3 PM games are still possible. Perhaps a 5 PM game is a compromise everyone can live with. I also would like a consistent starting time.

Mike, you may be right and is it possible that they do some noon games to help with potential travel delays and give the travelling team more time to get back? IDK. I still think this has become a more common trend really in college basketball itself. A team like Duke has played a number of their conference games this year at noon as well.

I don't know if I still subscribe to the "we have to get home" model.

    Especially on the weekend.

And especially especially when I see schools like Kansas State staying over and playing two midweek games on different days in baseball.
