UL Softball Post Michigan State Observations

First off, a tip of the hat to Bethany Noble-King. I seriously doubt that any of us thought that she would have had one complete game shutout this season, let alone 2 in her first two appearances.

We had two solid pitching performances yesterday, as Julianne Tipton and Bethany Noble-King were both outstanding.

Defense was also excellent, as both games were error free.

Offensively; as a team we were 16/53 [.302], a slight drop from our season numbers, but well within the error margin. Slugging as a team was .566

Percentage of hits going for extra bases was 8/16 or .500, well above the season numbers.

For the season, we are now hitting .337, with an OB% of .410, SLG% is .584, Team OPS is .994.

Percentage of XBH/H for the season is 40/106 or .377.

The weekend only gets tougher; but so far, so good.

The NCAA won't update their numbers before Monday, so it will be late Monday or sometime Tuesday before I can post how we stack up nationally.

    Thanks for the breakdown.

Agreed on Noble-King. Really nice start. Averaging a hit per inning, but only given up 3 walks in 12 ip. That’s how you give up 0 runs.

Just need to keep rolling and notching wins. A lot of opportunities still out there this weekend with tough but beatable teams coming up.

Of the five girls we have seen in the circle this season, Noble-King has done the best job of throwing strikes. Now, her starts were against Texas A&M CC and Howard, but she may need to be more involved. She threw 67% of her pitches yesterday for strikes.
