Our pitching must improve. In spite of the errors vs FSU, our defense will be ok. Other than Smiths struggles and Mannings slow start, I am pleased with our hitting. Pre FSU we were on pace for a very good year offensively. I will withhold judgement on how good for a couple of weeks, but hitting is the least of our worries.
In response to the part of your post that is in bold print:
Our 'atrocious' hitting has us currently has us sitting at the following National ranks after the FSU game:
HR/GM: 27
RBI/GM: 31
SLG%: 32
BA: 35
SCORING: 44
2B/GM: 66
3B/GM: 115
Note that there are 309 teams in D1 Softball and that we are in the top 21% of all those offensive categories except 3B/GM [in which we are in the top 37%]. Additionally our team OPS is 1.008 [the NCAA does not track this stat].
As to girls you named specifically:
Haley Hart is beyond outstanding.
Emily Smith is struggling.
Madyson Manning is not where we would like her to be.
Lily Knox is hitting .409 with an OPS of 1.321.
As a team, we are still on track to score 400 runs [229 in 2025], have 81 doubles [48 in 2025], 27 triples [10 in 2025] and 81 home runs [22 in 2025] in the 2026 regular season].
Please let us continue to be atrocious.
Last year highest one game score was 9, for total runs seems a 23 counting in 10 percent of the total might skew the projection
