No. 7-ranked Florida State capitalized on free passes in the second inning and it proved to be the difference as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball team fell 8-0 (5 inn.) on Tuesday, February 17 at JoAnne Graf Field in Tallahassee, Florida.
This team has a lot to improve on. Aside from the free bases given, the errors were as bad of not worse. Could have ended innings at lest 3 times before runs being scored by FlSt.
It’s time to lower the expectations for this program. The inability to attract elite pitching is the downfall of a once top 15 program. We looked like a high school team compared to a top 10 team.
People who really follow the sport knew that our pitching was average at best this year. Alyson doesn't seem to have a clue when to pull a pitcher. This is about the 4th game this year when she has let a pitcher stay in too long. She needs to get better with going to Plan B more sooner.
Other than Hayley Hart, our hitting is really atrocious this year. Smith has really regressed. They paid her some decent NIL money (at least by UL standards) to stay and she hasn't performed. Might need to ask for some of that money back. Knox looked lost last night but so did many other Cajuns. Manning, imo, has been a bust. You can now see why Oklahoma pulled their offer to her and LSU told her that they needed her roster spot to give to someone else. I feel confident with saying that there are some P4 schools who have Hart on their radar and it is most likely that she will be playing somewhere else next year. I really can't blame her if she leaves.
