One time, a UL alum was showing him around, and introduced him to his grandfather and some other gentlemen, "Pere-pere, this is Mr. Robert Duvall."
His grandfather looked up and said, "Duvall?
"Mais who's you' daddy?"
Brought the house down, and Duvall was standing there confused.
Some of you may remember the ill-fated Louis Armstrong High School for the Arts that we worked on for years. Robert Duvall put his name behind it.
When I first approached him, I spoke with his assistant who said he would look into it. I called a few times, no luck.
It was Mardi Gras season, so I shipped him a praline cream cheese King Cake from Keller's. I waited a few days, called the assistant and asked him if he got the King Cake. He was confused for a second, didn't understand.
