I know the entire media world is lazy and will steer perception in that direction, and yes perception is reality but in truth ... P4 is football only.

Major truth: The term Mid-Major is pigeon hole term designed to prevent any school from focusing financial support on a single sport and rising to the top.

In the end though, I was just trying to make a loophole joke about the omission, exclusion.

Louisiana softball is not a mid major program. It is a nationally recognized Power Softball program. Now let's prove it!!!!!!!!!!!!! That we still are!!!!!!!

Funny how the build up of SEC softball is claimed by them for title ix and to grow the sport. First wcws in 1969 had teams that would nowadays be classified as follows....
3 Mid majors
1 FCS
2 d2 or d3
2 junior colleges

Fast forward to 1980....

FCS 2
D2 1
P4 7 (pac/big 10 2; ACC/pac 1; big 12 1; sec/big12 2; SEC/metro 1)
G5 5
Mid major 1

The g5s and mid majors built the sport and the p4 has been trying to steal it. Once they push the g5s and mid majors all the way out, i think they will curtail the increased investmwnt... i.e. loss leader to exclude market competition
