Softball's 2026 schedule loaded with ranked opponents

The countdown is real for Cajun Nation as it awaits the reunion of its diamond sports teams. For Louisiana softball, a little more than a week separates it from kicking off the 2026 season.

Since May of last year, the area has been itching to see what head coach Alyson Habetz and the Cajuns will do in her second year at the helm with new faces all around. Louisiana ended last season on a bit of a sour note. Ending its streak of series wins in Sun Belt Conference play, missing out on the NCAA Softball Tournament and losing to Coastal Carolina in the second round of the SBC Championships.

We have 9 games [out of 30 non-conference contests] against currently ranked teams. I think that is a reasonable mix, especially as there are other games among the 21 unranked non-conference games that feature quality opponents.
