Thread: New UL softball hitting coach plans on discovering much more pop to Cajuns' lineup

  1. UL Softball New UL softball hitting coach plans on discovering much more pop to Cajuns' lineup

New UL hitting coach Bill Shipman is hoping to bring the power element back to the Cajuns' offense this spring.

The expectations for softball coach Alyson Habetz’s second season with the UL Ragin’ Cajuns are much higher than the 29-25 finish a year ago.

Improvements are expected in many areas, but none is more needed than in the batter’s box. New hitting coach Bill Shipman is the new man in charge to make sure those batting numbers soar in a hurry.

I'm hoping to discover oil in my back yard

Shipman's chances are better than yours. Last year was an anomaly; virtually every player underperformed compared to prior years. I believe Shipman can right the ship.

Well, we certainly can't do much worse than last year. Hoping the slapping is kept down to the minimum or only when the situation makes sense.

I had a long talk with Shipman during football season. He seems to want to hold slapping to a minimum.
