When Vermilion Catholic played Ouachita Christian in the State Championship baseball game in 1997, VC only had one starter who had reached his 18th birthday. Every starter for Ouachita Christian was 19.

Wow, believe it. Thought it was just a football prob, couldnt imagine "paying" an extra year of HS tuition for a 1A or 2A state baseball playoff run

In Class A, few athletes are one sport players. That VC team had none. Every starter played at least 2 sports, most played 3 or more. Two were first team All State in 3 sports.

I am sure the situation at Ouachita Christian was similar.

It was the same years ago at Louisiana. It was not unusual to see three and four sport athletes.
