Also an R1 Banner that fails to name the school will bring on the banter as well.

Not consciously, but with no R1 credit claimed there is no affinity granted.

Any school could be in the mind of the banner reader.

The airport banner is a kite without a tail.

That is obviously the excuse.

Because the creator of the banner "knows" they assume everyone who sees it knows.

Travelers are on their way to a destination; they don't have time to calculate possibilities, yet they have to. yet they won't. They may not even know the university closest to the airport. They may think everything in the state is LSU for all I know.

There will be no residual memory of the school.

Fair enough. I see potential for no memory of us in that banner, but i dont think they will think of another school.

Some would say a loss, a lost opportunity yes, but i cant imagine it costs us that much to put it there.... maybe a row of smaller banners, leading out would be better, each with a different info item, culminating in r1

It is never too late to hang any banners! A cheap way of celebrating our university's accomplishments.

How about a state dept of ed banner with application deadlines for all state schools. Seems some are not well known or even followed
