Well here's the portal tally up to now by the teams in the Sunbelt and the number of players they signed:
App-8
ASU-4
CC-2
GASO-1
GAST-11
JMU-15
UL-0
ULM-0
MAR-4
ODU-4
SOAL-1
USM-9
TROY-1
LATECH-0
I guess Dez and those with UL wizdom want to give all of our conference opponents a head start before going into the portal.
It's ashame that this program has been treated this way by the administration and lack of foresight in handling the portal to hiring coaches that have a track record of success in the portal.
With almost 5k football players in the portal, you would think the "rocket scientists" that run UL could find an "intern" to find players in the portal and be proactive instead of reactive to the current landscape of college football and sports in general in a ho-hum way. This is not changing and needs to be embraced by someone that has COMMON SENSE within the athletic department.
There is ZERO reason for UL to be sitting on their hands while the go- getters in the SBC gets better in the portal. Let's not even begin with the level of talent recruited and signed this past December. The talent was good enough to rank UL towards the bottom of the SBC. This is why it makes the portal significant.
Unfortunately the entire athletic department along with the academia side of UL is in complete disarray. There is a current list of coaches that aren't cutting it at UL, but the AD seems content doing absolutely nothing while our sports programs continue to digress year after year. But yet they still want our money, support and attendance!
What a f*#@ing joke!
Your list forgets Jayce Mitchell Offensive Tackle from Tulane
My bad, but the service didn't list a single signee for UL.
be patient young jedis...the portal is overflowing with talent and limited spots so as the deadline approaches we will have many suitors to fill our very few open roster spots. we are not in dire shape like most other schools looking for 20-40 portal signees.
Trying not to prejudge lack of portal signings just yet. Seems like this Friday, 1/16 deadline will be big decision day. A lot of these kids might be waiting on better offers until the musical chairs start moving faster later this week.
