Solar panels are becoming an increasingly familiar sight across Acadiana, but researchers at the Solar Energy Lab (LaSEL) of Louisiana.edu are testing whether crops and clean energy can grow side by side through a new approach called agrivoltaics.

I would have went with Agrivolture
Clearing out trees to put up these panels is what I have a problem with.
Nothing grows under solar panels.
The clean energy solution is to switch to natural gas for all energy consumption for which it is suitable. [Electrical generation, home heating, cooking, OTR trucking, Locomotives, automobiles, etc.] Every thing else is dirtier and less efficient than natural gas.
I’ve seen up close and personal what hurricane winds can do to a solar field. Pretty much total destruction.
Have only seen via photos what a hail storm can do. About the same, but not necessarily total destruction. Tornado, just depends on the path.
For that reason, I’m not all warm and fuzzy with unicorns and puppies over the investment.
