I’ve said it since the day he was hired. There, I said it, AGAIN.

If it was all coaching, Des would have had some great seasons initially with all of the talent that Napier left him. He was picked to win the West unanimously in 2022 and he didn't even finish the season .500. Give me a break.

I will admit the current landscape is more challenging for a mid level program, but maybe that supports the whole concept that a search would have been in our best interest. You are assuming no other coach would have been able to come here but Quannis White was able to excite enough people that they allegedly drew in $800,000 in NIL for basketball. What would have happened if an exciting coaching hire would have come in and done the same for football? There was absolutely ZERO excitement with the Des hire. It was the safe hire at a time we may have needed to be bold.
    1. I never said to give DES all the credit - but here he gets all the blame and no credit

    2. Napier and others gutted DES’s roster and coaches - then the advent of free transfers and NIL

    3. We have seen what Napier has done with all the money in the world at a once perenial powerhouse SEC school - pretty easy to give plenty of credit for Napier’s success here to Levi Lewis and the rest of the recruits HUD left him

Vic and Levi just barely missed the chance to be the best lawyer/NIL client combo ever

Never underestimate the "me too" factor. It is the key to all NIL success regardless of the school.

One donor brings in the coach, "me too" brings in the NIL.

When UL snuffed out the coach donor, they snuffed out the NIL.

UL job was open sooner and hire made weeks before Oregon was open. May have lost him immediately but he was available.

Hell, every coach in the country including Nick Saban were available - but let’s be realistic about who was coming - I see living in the Cajun Bubble has not changed any . . .
